Eating Made Easy Nutrition Workshops

Join our Registered Dietitian for a series of informative workshops on healthy eating. These practical workshops consist of a series of 4 sessions, each with a nutrition component and cooking demonstration geared to provide information useful to independently living seniors.
Week 1: What’s on your menu?
Eating well can be quick and easy if you know how! Join us to learn about the foods and nutrients you will need to enjoy an active life. Find out the latest research on vitamin and mineral needs as we age. The simple yet delicious breakfast ideas will entice your taste buds!
Week 2: Savour the Flavour…
We all need to cut back on salt for good health. Knowing where to find salt in the foods you eat can help you make wise choices while still keeping your favourite foods on hand. Learn how to cook with less sodium and lots of flavour!
Week 3: Colour Your Plate!
Green, red, yellow and orange – not just colours, but the key to good health. Find out why a variety of brightly coloured vegetables and fruit can help keep you on the move! Learn how to cut corners and make more fruits and vegetables a part of your diet!
Week 4: Fat: Friend or Foe?
Not all fats are bad fats! There are many benefits to eating a diet that contains the right kind of fat! Find out the difference between healthy fats and not so healthy fats and start loving food again! Enjoy some tantalizing tastes that will give you great ideas on how to include healthy fats into your diet.
The series runs Tuesdays at McClure United Church (13708 – 74 St) from February 7 – 28. Each workshop is from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
