Winter Donations Still Needed

December 28th, 2011

As 2011 is coming to an end, Edmonton Meals on Wheels has not yet met its winter fundraising goal of $75,000. With $71,500 raised to date, the local agency is asking for the public’s help in raising the remaining dollars.

The money raised from this campaign will help fund the meal subsidy program for low income clients and go towards grocery costs. With the cost of groceries continuing to rise, it becomes increasingly vital that Meals on Wheels receive financial support so as to not increase funds to clientele who are already living on a very limited income.

Liz Tondu, executive director says, “Our clients rely on Meals on Wheels services year round. The wholesome, tasty meals they receive help them live independently in their own homes. Meals on Wheels is playing a very important role in their overall health.”  Tondu continues, “As our population continues to age, we are becoming more dependant on the public to help us provide services to those in need.”

Donations can be made in person at 11111 103 Ave, by telephone at 780-429-2020 or online at www.mealsonwheelsedmonton.org/donate/donate-money/. We ask for Edmonton’s support to help us reach our goal.
