#GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday is less than one month away, which means it’s time to start thinking about how we can all give back. This special day falls on November 28th this year, and we are hoping to use it a reason to draw attention to our clients and our cause. What exactly is Giving Tuesday? It is a day for everyone, everywhere, to give. It’s a global campaign with a commitment to celebrate and showcase good deeds that are happening all across the world. From small community projects to national organizations, #GivingTuesday has gone viral. This day is a way to help raise awareness about causes that are near and dear to our communities’ heart and help those who need it most. For many, the month of November kicks off the joyous holiday season and all of the fun that comes along with it. For our homebound clients, it is a different story. The winter months can become a time of great hardships for them. With the weather taking a turn it is even more difficult for our clients to do simple things like grocery shop, or get anywhere for that matter. Our volunteers who deliver meals are often the only interaction that our clients will have all day. We at Edmonton Meals on Wheels are hoping to change that by spreading a little extra cheer this holiday season with the help of our community! We are currently seeking cash donations, gas card donations, volunteer hours, and gift wrap, as, well as small gifts for our annual Holiday Gift Drive. In addition, we’ll be selling limited edition ‘Meals on Wheels holiday pins’ for $6.This great initiative is a reason to come together and kick off the giving season with a day of giving back to those who need it most. Our clients depend on donations of all sorts, big and small, to get through their days. We at Edmonton Meals on Wheels are asking you to think about our clients on Tuesday, November 28th, and to donate what you can in order to help those who can’t, because that’s what #GivingTuesday is all about.
