This Featured Volunteer is a big believer in paying it forward. That’s what pushed her to volunteer in the kitchen at Edmonton Meals on Wheels. Wanting to join a fun yet hardworking team, Sue set out to make a difference by preparing and packaging meals for her homebound neighbours. And if she could learn a few kitchen tricks along the way, she says that would make it even better! Going beyond her regular kitchen role, Sue recently helped out with preparing and serving food at Beers and Bands, our annual fundraiser, and “really enjoyed interacting with the guests. Sometimes being allowed to take on a different role in your life, even for one night, is very exhilarating and rewarding.” When asked why she continues to donate her time to Meals on Wheels clients, she says “being involved in such a positive and dynamic work place makes it fun and relaxing. I enjoy knowing that I am contributing to make a vulnerable person’s life a little bit easier.” Outside of supporting her homebound neighbours, Sue is a team leader at her workplace and an animal lover outside of work. She is currently involved in the dog sport world by playing a pooch friendly game called “flyball”. Both her skills and willingness to help when needed makes Sue the amazing volunteer that she is. Thank you for all that you do, Sue!
