Propsed Budget Cuts to Meals on Wheels in America

Edmonton Meals on Wheels will not be financially impacted by proposed budget cuts in the United States. Canadian Meals on Wheels programs operate independently of each other and, while sharing a brand and working collaboratively, each agency must secure its own funding and develop its own processes. Edmonton Meals on Wheels’ funding is as follows; 53 per cent meal fees; 18 per cent City of Edmonton/FCSS; 22 per cent donations and fundraising; 7 per cent grants and other sources of revenue. However, Edmonton Meals on Wheels relies on our American counterparts for the in-depth research they perform and the training they provide for those under the Meals on Wheels name. This research has proved vital in growing our available services and reaching our clients, volunteers, donors, and funders.
