That is why Edmonton Meals on Wheels is happy to announce that we are making the change from hot to chilled meals, with our new Chef’s Choice Daily Meals. Don’t fret!   It’s all about the special, little moments. That is this Featured Volunteer’s favourite part about being a Volunteer Delivery Driver and Store-to-Door Volunteer with Edmonton Meals on Wheels. Jean has been donating her time since 2017 on suggestion by her aunt and has been enjoying it ever since. Jean loves being someone that clients can talk to about their lives when she delivers their meals. “Being part of these small moments for clients is one of the hidden gems of being an Edmonton Meals on Wheels volunteer”, she says....

National Volunteer Week is special to us, as it’s a week to recognize all of our hardworking volunteers. We couldn’t operate without the dedicated team who choose to volunteer their time to our cause, and to them, we are incredibly grateful. However, we want to draw your attention to a special group of team members who have certainly proved their loyalty to our clients and our cause. We’re talking about the 21 volunteers who have each spent more than 15 years volunteering at Edmonton Meals on Wheels. Pretty incredible!...

These two Featured Volunteers followed in their daughter’s tire tracks. Colin and Cheryl started volunteering at Edmonton Meals on Wheels as a backup for their daughter, Jamie, in 2017. Shortly after they began filling in, the duo found themselves with a little extra time on their hands, as well as a lot of enjoyment from what they were doing. Because of this, they decided to sign up as regular Evening Delivery volunteers. They enjoy working as a team (Cheryl does the navigating and Colin does the driving) to deliver meals...

Have you ever enjoyed doing something you much that you wanted to make it your full time job? That’s exactly what Julie and Laura thought when they first started volunteering at Edmonton Meals on Wheels. “I really enjoyed the experience. When I got to spare for a route I had done before it was nice to be remembered by the clients”, says Julie, our Volunteer and Scheduling Coordinator. And remembered by the clients, she is. Julie went from delivering meals to clients in need, to mapping out the best routes...

This Featured Volunteer is passionate about not just delivering food, but bringing along a little cheer as well. Every Wednesday, Thelma volunteers as one of our Meal Delivery Drivers. She has also taken part in Casino Nights, including the most recent one, which earns a substantial amount for homebound Edmontonians. One of her favourite parts about volunteering for Edmonton Meals on Wheels is seeing her regular clients and knowing that they are getting meals filled with nutrients. “I believe that eating right is very important for health and well-being and...
