Our office acts as a support hub for individuals who may be isolated, physically or socially, offering not only connection to city and provincial support agencies but a sympathetic ear to people who may otherwise have few contacts with others in their day to day life.
The EMOW Friendly Caller Program allows volunteers to create meaningful, intergenerational connections, help to alleviate the social isolation and disconnection sometimes felt by people.
The Program is a Community Supported Learning Placement coordinated through the U of A. Volunteers come to the EMOW offices to privately chat with individuals who may want to connect with someone, to talk about their day, share an experience, or just know that someone is thinking of them.
There is no charge for this service and you don't even have to be a client of EMOW to sign
up for the program. Anyone can join.
If you'd like to have an EMOW volunteer reach out to talk, let us know.
