Thank you for considering a volunteer position at Edmonton Meals on Wheels. Volunteers are the heart of our organization. You have spent a lifetime acquiring skills: come share them! Our volunteers are a great team of generous Edmontonians who all work towards improving food security among our homebound neighbours.
Volunteers are welcome at EMOW in four positions:
Delivery Drivers, Kitchen Helpers, Lunch 'n' Learn and Connections Callers

DRIVE with us!
Pick up meals from either our central office or a regional depot for delivery into the community. You will need to follow specific delivery instructions for each client, problem solve actively, and maintain great communication between yourself and the office staff to make sure everyone receives the right meal at the right time!
Drivers deliver on:
Mon - Fri from 10am -1pm for our Daily Meal Delivery
Evenings on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-7pm for our Frozen Meals
Please note: Meals on Wheels does not deliver on weekends
Volunteers are expected to schedule at least 2 shifts per month. We are looking for a minimum 3-6 months commitment in this role.
Volunteers in this role must be open, compassionate and comfortable with serving a diverse group of clients. There are no qualifications for a client to receive meals on wheels services; so you will deliver to a wide variety of people!
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle. We require you to have a clear criminal record search including a vulnerable sector check. This check is reimbursable and is completed online after you have been approved as a volunteer.
Be advised, the processing of your application can take up to two weeks during periods of high volunteer interest.
COOK with us!
Help us prepare over 700 meals each weekday by chopping, peeling, dishing and packaging food, baking, and more.
Kitchen Helpers …
work alongside professional staff members – no culinary experience is required! We rely on our kitchen volunteers to help us prepare raw vegetables and meats, individually portion and package soups, desserts, sandwiches and other items and assemble daily meals.
The kitchen is open:
Monday-Friday Mornings (8 AM - 12PM), and Afternoons (12:30PM - 4:30PM).
Volunteers are expected to schedule at least 2 shifts per month and up to 4 shifts per week. We are looking for a minimum 3-6 months commitment in this role. Kitchen Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, adhere to dress code and observe all health and safety precautions while in the Kitchen.

CONNECT OUR CLIENTS WITH APPS AND SOFTWARE!
We are looking for volunteers to support our clients with learning how to use and navigate various apps and software all while sharing a meal!

CONNECT to those most in need!
Connections Callers provide a lifeline to isolated and homebound individuals. Clients of all ages access our services, for any number of reasons. Volunteers in this role must be open minded, patient, compassionate and comfortable with serving a diverse group of clients. This role takes place at our central location in downtown Edmonton.
You will be a friendly connection to our clients and are welcome to chat with them for as long as you both like!
Volunteers must be 18 years of age, have an outgoing disposition, great attention to detail and be proactive to ensure clients get the best caller experience they can receive!
Most volunteers work 1-2 shifts per week in this role. Shifts are Weekdays from 1-4pm. We are looking for a minimum commitment in this role of 3-6 months. (non-consecutively, we can accommodate vacations with notice)
GROUP VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer opportunities are available for groups including; corporate, sports teams, and high school clubs – any group qualifies! Various shifts and roles available. Please note that all members of a group must meet the minimum age qualification of 16 years of age to volunteer with Meals on Wheels! Please email us for more information.
